Milwaukee Bucks Release Summer League Roster and Schedule

While the big story for Milwaukee this off-season was the drafting of the cocky Brandon Jennings, the bigger story is likely to be his development, as well as the progress of others.

The Bucks invited some newbies to play along with some of their draft picks and young players.

Some notable players that will be showing up for the games are former Marquette point guard Dominic James, former Louisville forward, Juan Palacios, and former Arizona star, Salim Stoudamire.

The Bucks’ own 2009 draft picks, Brandon Jennings and Jodie Meeks, will both be suiting up, as will second year men, Joe Alexander and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.

Not depth chart had been issued, but it’s likely that the starting line-up goes something like this:

PG Brandon Jennings

SG Jodie Meeks

SF Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

PF Joe Alexander

C Chris Richard

If Milwaukee is smart, they’ll put their best players on the floor, and see what they can do together.

Regardless of the eventual make-up of the starting line-up, the Bucks’ main concern will be getting Brandon Jennings as many good minutes as possible, while getting Joe Alexander and Jodie Meeks enough playing time to give them both quality assessments.

The Bucks traded Richard Jefferson to free up their cap for next season, but also were looking toward the future with Joe Alexander. Therefore, what he shows them in these summer league games could go a long way in determining his immediate future and status with the team.

Aside from Alexander and Meeks, Dominic James and Salim Stoudamire are the two players who can help themselves the most in the summer.

Both are very gifted offensively and have good range on their shots, but don’t have the ideal size to play shooting guard at the NBA level.

Neither player has the skills or cerebral understanding of the game that is necessary of an elite point guard, either, rendering them as either a combo guard, or the worst word in the sports dictionary: a “tweener”.

Look for Brandon Jennings to surprise some people with some exciting and stellar play, while Jodie Meeks and Joe Alexander could prove a lot of doubters wrong, as both are more athletic than advertised, and are both exceptional shooters.
